Undergraduate Program

In August of 1999, the Poultry Technology and Management major was combined with that of the Department of Dairy and Animal Science to form the Animal Sciences major. This major has two options, business and science, and has tremendously increased the pool of students receiving instruction in poultry science. The Animal Sciences major has grown steadily since its inception and is currently the largest undergraduate program in the College of Agricultural Sciences.

Animal Bioscience remains as a separate major for students interested in a more basic biology-based program, with administration and student advising continuing as a responsibility of the three animal departments (Poultry Science, Dairy and Animal Science, and Veterinary Science).

The Poultry and Avian Science (P A S) Minor, launched in January 2005, is designed for students who wish to supplement their academic major with studies focused on the biology, management, and diseases of various avian species with an emphasis on domestic fowl. (Handbook information)
